There is something about the sound of Francescatti I can't put into words, he's not my favorite soloist but I really like his unique tone and I can honestly say Ive never heard any sound like that before or after. His Hart Strad has a wonderful sparkling tone and I understand it is now owned and played by Salvatore Accardo. His recording of the Beethoven Concerto is still among my favorites and many highly regard his Paganini recording. I think more of his recordings should be available but have gone out of print. I also seem to recall Mr Gitlis saying many nice things about Mr Francescatti in The Art of Violin doccumentary, he certianly was a great and unique soloist and his recordings are well worth collecting. For more information on him I recommend getting your hands on the 13 volume series of books titled "The Way They Play" by Applebaum in which he was featured (I forget which one).

I have uploaded rare out of print and unreleased recordings that are difficult to find, I hope you like them.

Since they are so difficult to find no one should mind me uploading them, if you have issues with me uploading them please send me a message and I will remove them.

  • I like Zino Francescatti performing. You can still purchase this at ArkivMusic with the 2nd and 3rd concertos. Thank you for another great selection Scotty.

  • they seem to offer recordings most other stores dont carry, i suppose that makes this recording not so easy to get in a way so i have no remorse for posting it

i am glad you liked it my friend, respectfully scott

  • francescatti and walter! a dream comes true!

  • well dang if I am not coming full circle back here to Zino after listening to everybody...and back here to my "roots" and I have decided that Zino doesn't play Mozart..he "sings" it and thats what makes his Mozart unique..though I really love Kremers...this Mozart just flows like a stream out of Zino that has been part of him forever..effortless.

  • Oh gosh..I have to add his cadenza is glorious..I have to go out and buy the International version of this sheet music with his cadenza! WOW! Love it! His editions are always the bomb but sometimes they can be tough..this doesn't sound as rough as the Joachim

  • played with such joy and almost a humorous heart..as much of Mozart should be. Seems like he "leans" on those grace notes just a smidge extra in the opening and I like it plan to snag it :) This is one of my favorite violin concertos because it is so uplifting
