A fully loaded coal train grumbles up the bank out of Otira, towards the tunnel in the distance. Unfortunately a pesky sleeve got in the way of my camera!

    What sort of tonnage were we looking at?

  • Think it's about 90 (metric) tons a wagon, so around 3000 tons with locos included. Could be wrong...

  • Funny arrows paint on this cars ! nice shot

  • The newer coal wagons can only be unloaded in one direction, which is what the arrows indicate.

  • DX, she's a beauty, 5 of them, awsum....nice catch.....that's some 13750 HP awsum altho not quite as much as the 60000 HP per engine on my B757...!!!
