The Choir of the Abbey School, Tewkesbury sing my absolutely favourite hymn Dear Lord And Father Of Mankind to Sir Charles Hubert Hasting Parry's wonderful tune "Repton". The pictures are of various English cathedrals and abbeys where this hymn will have been sung many times, starting and ending with Tewkesbury Abbey.

  • I must really say thanks for all this beautiful music. This repertoire is wonderful, I live in Italy and here these Hymns are not part of the tradition ...

I am happy to know such a beautiful liturgical music and sung so wonderfully well, always!

THANKS from the bottom of my heart!

  • Beautiful and serene.

  • Very impressive. The descant in the last verse sounds wonderful and is musically brilliant. Hats off to whoever wrote it, and also to the choir who sang it so perfectly!

  • them buildings are well nice xo

  • Always been one of my favourites, a beautiful hymn, and the tune stirs the soul in its majesty

  • It seems that hibro missed out Guildford Cathedral.

  • This is a dirge but there is a better tune (Rest)

  • @drwestbury I think the one you've listed as Lincoln is actually York Minster. Some top choices though!

  • @drwestbury Your "York Minster" is Bristol Cathedral, and your "Lincoln" is York Minster :o)

  • I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (July 10), I played this for Sunday School Assembly. However, it was to the tune, REST, composed by Frederick C. Maker, 1844-1927.
