@gmartinz01 Well Congress just passed a bill that allows the president to jail, indefinitely & without habeus corpus, any US citizen accused of "terrorism," so I guess we're not that much better than Cuba after all. Funny enough, Guantanamo Bay is in Cuba (we come full circle!). I know the point you were trying to make, & I don't necessarily disagree or anything, I just thought the way you worded it implied that the US doesn't commit the same atrocities these countries do, when in fact it does.

@iwantcompletecontrol I couldn't agree more. The fact that homosexuals and political dissidents are routinely jailed without the right of habeus corpus just infuriates . . . oh, wait, that's Cuba. That being said, you're kind of missing my point (and if Joe was alive, I don't think he'd say HIS point was just about the UK): we still get in bed with the devil whenever we decide it's expedient to do so.

@gmartinz01 Well aside from the fact that Joe was talking about the UK & not the US... You conveniently forget that US is one of the biggest oppressors & civil rights abusers out there. Joe sang just as much about that as anything else, if not more: "Yankee dollar talk to the dictators of the world, in fact it's giving orders and they can't afford to miss a word" / "Reign of the superpowers must be over...Africa is choking on their Coca Cola" / "Giving deadly exhibitions of murder by napalm" etc
