I think it's safe to say that the American remake of this film WILL NOT have an ending like this! There's no way American studios would allow audiences to see the terrorists winning at the end!

Absolutely love this film, Hoskin's bravura performance, the zeitgeist it captured, and this whiplash ending. So few films muster the balls to end this way, it's so refreshing.

@MondoBeno The only part for me that does not make sense is when HS's sidekick Kevin makes advances on Victoria in the lift. I reckon one does not do things like that.

The music by Francis Monkman is getting a lot of comments. I agree that it is excellent. The "love theme" when "Jeff" takes "Victoria" home and tells her that he'd like to lick every inch of her, is beautiful, and very John Barry-esque. Terrific movie with a great performance by Hoskins and an interesting early appearance of Pierce Brosnan as one of the IRA hitmen.
