First off, everyone's saying that our entire galaxy will come into alignment on Dec.21 2012 and it will totally change the way we live. When in fact, it will happen sometime in 2014, but it's no big deal. I heard Neil Degrasse Tyson talk about this and he mentioned that it occurs more often than you think. Humans have been around for thousands of years and we'll be around for a lot more, unless the sun just blows the fuck up. Every other 2012 rumor is pure imagination.

@SovereignStatesman Look, I agree that Ventura is a full on paranoiac nutcase and an outright liar. I really do. However if you have ever seen an aurora you can see the magnetic field protecting the earth from cosmic rays and charged particles emitted by the sun. Without the magnetic field around the earth the atmosphere could be "blown off" the planet by the solar wind, which is what scientists speculate happen to Mars.
But yes, he has taken that little fact and twisted it into pure BS.
