  • i hear even though some couldnt talk they could sing

  • I think I got some kind of aphasia... I can read peoples comments for example here but I can not comprend a story longer. I also have to concentrate alot when I speak sometimes because the one im talking to cant understand me cause I dont talk properly, this didnt happen before. fml.

  • @tomvidarmichalsen

True, but when they will tell that on television. 95 % of the people watching wouldn't understand it.

  • Funny thing CBS was given (or found) wrong information on the cause of aphasia. Aphasia does not happen because of a blood clot in the cranial arteries. Aphasia occurs when there is a lesion / damage in a specific part of the left hemisphere of the brain. A blood clot in causing a hemorrhage around the language part of the brain may cause this, bot not the blood clot itself.

  • @Danielle4Life . In our experience, aphasia has robbed ALL instigated usage of nouns from my mom. She knows & can repeat them when we say them, but she can not read, or speak them if she doesn't hear the word first. Normal includes driving...signs lose meaning, communicating with others for help is impossible since most people assume this is a mental deficiency, not a communication disorder.

  • @Danielle4Life cant write. I get seizures with temporary aphasia. Can't use words, have difficulty understanding what happens around me, cant read and cant write. First seizure i had, I was unable to use my phone to get help since i didnt know what was happening. migraine with aphasia,

  • @oxfordpictionary: then try to hit your head on the right side if you ever fall (unless your dominant hemisphere is the left one) ;)

  • Great recovery...I love happy endings

  • Danielle4Life, aphasia definitely does not only affect speaking. It can affect speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension -- not to mention that there are lots of other aspects that can go along with it, like motor problems and vision problems. And it's not at all like being mute -- lots of people with aphasia can still formulate words or sounds, but they may not make sense a lot of the time.

  • aphasia is only speaking! u can still write stuff and do normal stuff.. but well u cant really communicate.. basically ur mute.
