  • Nice camera work and music. Funny gut shot at the end, is that the before and after pic?

I've been thinking about taking the green smoothie plunge, seems like a great idea. I don't like having to spend $500 though on a blender capable of making a decent smoothie.

I've looked around for a cheaper alternative and the only one I can find that is acceptable is the KitchenAid. Do you know if the KitchenAid can make a smoothie of similar consistency to the Blendtec or Vitamix?

  • @jackburton2009

Honestly it is worth saving up for a BlendTec or Vitamix. It is the most used appliance in our kitchen and works 10x better than our other blenders (oyster and kitchaids). Right now Costco has the BlendTec on sale for $379.00 and it comes with two containers!

    Thanks for your comments!

  • @cdilling I agree! I got the Limited Edition Designer Seres Blendtec at Xmas!! It was 500 bucks! Now, I waited to do this.. It was something I knew I would use daily, otr more, for years to come!! I can blend ANYTHING in this thing! 500 dollars? that would be a fraction of what medications would cost if you do not eat right!! This blender helps you eat right an dtasty!!

  • @savgal1211 glad you got a great blender! You hit on a really important point that most people overlook- the health savings accrued from making healthy smoothies and shakes!

  • that was our samsung fridge

  • @Raider2845 I bought the Blendtec so the point is moot.

However, what it really comes down to is what are you blending and what kind of consistency do you desire. If you're blending soft fruits and a softer green like spinach you could get away with the Magic Bullet or cheaper blender. When you start blending very fibrous ingredients you really do need some horsepower or it will stop the blade or not blend well enough.

  • @jackburton2009 You dont have to spend a billion dollars on them to make a smoothie. I use the Magic Bullet. You only make the smoothie per 1 drink you want with it. And it is cheap. You will not be disappointed.

  • @cdilling That's the conclusion I came to after further research. The Kitchenaid doesn't seem to produce a good enough consistency when dealing with fibrous fruits and vegetables.

Costco does have the best price, thanks for the heads up.

  • I have a kitchen Aide and it works great. I couldn't see myself spending $400 for a blender. Maybe someday, but not now. I use my kitchen Aid for the toughest jobs and it gets the work done. The only thing it has a hard time with is sorbets cause of the thickness, but it still does the job!!!

  • Sounds delicious. Have you ever considered opening your own smoothie place?

  • I hAve the same fridge
