*** THIS IS THE IMPROVED VERSION *** - GREAT!!! THIS IS A MUST SEE! VOTE FOR GODFREY: http://playcrossroads.com/godfreytownsendmusic Wonderous Stories and the Alan Parsons Live Project 3/23/07
@twodux77 ... i generally prefer the original but can also enjoy a good musician, known or unknown, doing a fine cover... as for hendrix doing dylan, bob didn't mind, saying: "Hendrix could find things inside a song and vigorously develop them.
He found things that other people wouldn't think of finding in there. He probably improved upon it by the spaces he was using. I took license with the song from his version, actually, and continue to do it to this day."
@twodux77: This is not a philosophical debate regarding artistic interpretation. This is a labeling issue. Maybe you're right. Maybe there should be a format that includes the writer as well as the performer but for all intents and purposes that would still exclude cover bands from my search. BAND NAME/ARTIST - TITLE - WRITER (e.g. Eric Clapton - Let It Rain - Bramlett/Bramlett/Clapton). Nothing against this particular group of musicians.
@Algorhythmiq Yah, I hate watching those fakes the Beatles covering Chuck Berry songs such as Roll Over Beethoven or those copycats The Byrds and Jimi Hendrix singing Bob Dylan songs. And don't get me started on Eric Clapton covering Bob Marley songs........
There should be a completely different section for You Tube cover bands. Every title in this section should start with a differentiation (e.g. "COVER - Clapton - Let it Rain"). Simply put, it's not my intention to watch a facsimile of the artist(s) I'm searching for - regardless of how close you may come to sounding like the people you are not. Be yourselves or label your work accordingly.

yes, a fine version.... but please... when you say 'great!' and 'must see!' it'd be considerate of you to also state 'cover version'
