In 1838 Schumann composed for piano a work in eight short movements that came to be known as Kreisleriana. It was the piece chosen by Enrico Pace to open his recital in the semi-final stage of the 1991 Dublin International Piano Competition. In this video we have the first movement:- Äußerst bewegt.

Note. Toto Schillaci of Italy scored the single goal that put an end to the Republic of Ireland's good run in the 1990 FIFA World Cup. The name Schillaci remained on Irish lips for years afterwards. Such was his fame that an Irish company enlisted him to appear in one of their advertisements! No wonder Enrico was amused.

  • @marcohorowitz8 No, come diversi altri bravi pianisti purtroppo non è molto conosciuto, almeno dalle mie parti.

  • @TheSwordsweeper eh di un po', ma Enrico e' famoso in Italia??

  • Inglese terribile, però è un mito

  • A lost treasure. This is pure gold. I heard him perform Kreisleriana in the concertgebouw in 1989 or 90. The memory is still my point of reference for this piece.

  • this is beautiful!
