@ middenrat--it sounds like Muskrat Love as done by the Capt. and Tenille--that's not a compliment...but the mystery to me is why the song wasn't a hit in my neighborhood (the United States)...

@scottgeshen have to disagree re: synth solo.
OK, the short thematic riff over the chorus does sound generic, but the modulation of the solo is right on the money. Tinklers now will work for hours looking for that tone.

Haunting song. When my girlfriend and I were split-up I'd play this to underscore the pain. On a happier note, we were married for 26 years and I told her about how morose that I was without her and I'd play this song.
