The first video that I ever made, and that made me want to pursue it as a career.
Starring: Betsy
Directed and edited by Annie Rinsky.
I was at my cousins' house in Connecticut hanging out for the weekend. Our parents wanted us to get out of their hair, so they told us to use the new video camera. So we looked through their itunes library to figure out what song we could use in a video, and we came up with this. It was the evening and we didn't have much time left to shoot outside before the sun went down, so we went out quickly and shot a few things by the lake in their backyard. Then we went inside and shot a few things around the house. They had an editing program that came with their new camera, so I somehow figured out how to import and edit the material, and this was the result. The whole video was probably started and finished in a period of 2 or 3 hours, but it is still one of my favorite, and proudest works. When we were done we called our parents over to watch it. We didn't think much of it, just thought it was a funny little video. After we showed it to them they were teary-eyed and lost for words. They were impressed and shocked, and they had us play it for them over and over. That weekend we made two other videos, one music video and one short film. After that weekend my mom bought me my own camera, and I started making videos at every chance I got. Over the years I've upgraded cameras and editing programs, and now am a film student at The School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, and couldn't be happier.
