As I waited for my ride back to San Jose, northbound Amtrak California Capitol Corridor train pushed by GE B32-8W #2052 showed up, one of only two in the roster. Note a car alarm going off as it rumbles through the street running section.

By luck of the draw, my ride was powered by the other B32-8W, #2051, which showed up minutes after #2052 departed. I got to hear the "GE diesel chug" all the way to San Jose!

  • Are they still in service?

  • @wilzchau: As far as I know, CDTX 2051 and 2052 are still in service, although 2052 seems to have problems with the HEP (Hotel Electric Power, Head End Power) to supply electricity to the rest of the train.

  • How many amtrak california dash 9 locamotives are there?

  • @rockstarmonster90: The ones in the video are Dash 8 based. Amtrak California has 2 units, 2051 and 2052.

  • Nice video. I am sending you mine of the Lake Country Limited with a B32-8W in the Phase 4 paint.

  • i think either 2052, 2051, or an Amtrak California F59PHI should be sent down to san diego when the amfleets are in service.

  • Nice! *****

  • In that video, were the lights on the cabcars old or new?

  • @rockstarmonster90 2 and they're Dash 8's.

  • Those GE's are cool. By the way, that wasn't a car alarm. If you look off to the left as the locomotive enters street running, you'll notice several motorcycle cops with their flashers on. For some reason, the sirens on the police motorcycles are more similar to a car alarm compared to the typical siren used on the cruisers.

  • they need more P32-8BWH's cuz they sound great, have the best horns, and i rarely ever hear that they breakdown unlike the p42s which seem to always breakdown
