In the fall of 2008, the Union Pacific Railroad sent it's Challenger locomotive on a PR tour through Iowa and up to Minnesota. The big 4-6-6-4 is depicted here in High Definition returning home through Le Mars, Iowa and arriving in Sioux City. The locomotive spent two nights in Sioux City before continuing on to Council Bluffs.

Shot sequence:
- Arriving at the Union Pacific/Canadian National junction
in downtown Le Mars.
- Passing through Leeds and around the sweeping curve
alongside Floyd Blvd.
- On display at 18th Street.
- Looking north from Floyd Blvd.

These clips will be featured in an upcoming episode of the TV series Trackside. Go to www.trainweb.org/tracksideonline for more information.

  • @DUBMANS Yeah like racerboy23432 said they probably placed coins, usually pennies on the ground and the train will flatten them.......I did it when i was a child, only problems is sometimes they stick to the wheel and you don't find them lol

  • @DUBMANS they probly but pennys on the tracks so they are flat and they keep as a memory

  • i went back the next day and got some souvineers. and drove the opearation lifesaver locomotive simulator for about an hour. they guy who was running it said see you in a few years as an engineer cause i was just that good. the only thing i kept forgetting was the bell at crossings. i throttled down before he even said to and kept my eyes out front ahead of the train. i even blew the horn approaching a coal drag that was uncoupling at a crossing to warn the crew.
