UFCNUTTA; I don't have Adders in my garden-plenty of Slow-Worms though! But I have seen them in the countryside.....and keep my distance! I am sure people DO have them in their gardens, though it could be very dangerous if they have children. Personally, I would LOVE to come across a Grass Snake!
I used to live near Ashdown Forest. In the 1960s I used to catch adders there, by distracting the head while sneaking round to grab the tail. Then I let them go. By the way, please don't try it! I only did this a few times; once I knew I could, I just admired them and left them alone. I also found out that unlike the adults, very young adders CAN twist back up and reach your hand! I only picked up a young one once, as soon as it started to curl up towards my hand I naturally let go!

Yes, I have seen adders as big as this, here in South Wales.....but I tend to keep a respectful distance. Don't want to get bitten-very nasty that!
