i just read your Japanese but had a hard time understand it. I think you should study japanese. My stupid friend of mine studied for two years & he is pretty good at it now. I tried google translate before & it's not good at all. also, if you use translator there are too many Korean or Chinese born translator who can't even translate Japanese right. I've lost important law case in california because of those people who are Total fake pretending to be JAPANESE. good luck

@Hide1863 龍馬の遺刀と同じ刀鍛冶の手による日本刀ということは考えられる
ね。 -
@WaagooshTheRedFox just get a gun. it's easier. you don't need to go back in time. also, sword is just meant to kill people. it is not for survival or hand utility knife purpose . you don't need it & you can't make any money from making those. Japanese sword smith having terrible time too. people are buying cheap knockoff china swords. the sword is authentic & capable of killing people. this type of katana was very popular & cheap back then . even now, this sword is relatively affordable.

@WaagooshTheRedFox as in actually making the blade I have no idea. Mine was folded 7 times for a total of some 1000+ layers (idk how that works out) and the blade is hardened in a bath of oil and then tempered again in clay after reheating. Master kinjiro said you want your blade made in the winter (which was when I had mine forged).

@Hide1863 even so you want to actually go and meet the master smith and have it custom made in Japan. A bit on the expensive side though.

@WaagooshTheRedFox uhh you won't find tamahagne steel out side Japan and even in japan its rarely made now. Maskter Kinjiro of Sagawa made mine for Iaido and mine isnt tamahagne either. They only make a small batch of tamahagne in the winter of use old nails from temples or old swords. Mine was made by a master smith and its composed of three different steels low carbon soft steel almost like iron for the core 1040 second layer and 1070 high carbon steel for blade edge spine, and outer layer.

。
question, is the blade fully combat capable. from the smiths insignia it looks like a genuine blade, but you never know with some of these videos and online stores.
i just wanted to know if the master smith was a credible source of blades and information.
I've been looking into blade smithing and plan on attempting a sword in the near future, however i cannot find a good source on the folding and steel composition online. by that i mean the types of steel, their harness factors and whatnot.
