A friend was asking me about keyboards, so I made this video to help him out. Maybe it will help some of you out there as well.

DISCLAIMER: The camera I used to record this is old and has a crappy mic - so the sound pitch of these keyboards is much higher than in real life!

The first keyboard (beige) is the IBM Model M. Its keys require the most force to activate. It uses buckling spring switches.

The second (on the right) is the SIIG USB Mechanical - it requires about 1/2 the force of the Model M, and uses Type 1 simplified ALPS switches.

The third (on the left) is the Keytronic E03600U2. Although it's a membrane keyboard that sells for 1/3 the price of the other two, it feels GREAT to type on. The switches on this keyboard must be of very high quality. Some people describe the key feel as "TOPRE-esque," and I would have to agree.

I love all three of these boards.

Would you happen to know what the difference between the E03600U2 and the E03601U2 is?

  • It doesn't give any model number in the description. When you click the arrow for the description, it is blank.
