Severn Bore Feb,Chapter 3: Flood Tide

In the tidal reaches of the River Severn in Gloucestershire, people come to watch and to surf the tidal bore, often forgetting that although the bore might not always be spectacular, the huge tidal range is a major factor in shaping the local environment, and that it cannot be ignored. The famous Severn Bore is just the beginning of a large rise in the level of the river, which takes little more than an hour.
