Come along as C. Vision Productions rides the Nobles Rock Railroad in southwestern Minnesota. This is shortline railroading at its best! We ride along with the crew as they haul loaded grain hoppers from Luverne to the interchange track with the BNSF at Manley. Our cameras also capture the engineer working the throttle and brakes of the train in a GP-30 locomotive, as it progresses over the 10 mile per hour tracks.

And that's not all! Take a ride on the Dakota Minnesota and Eastern's 10th Anniversary Employee Special Train from Aurora to Arlington, South Dakota! You will not only get to view the scenery from the cab of the locomotive, but also from the three passenger cars as well.

If you enjoy railroad action from "on board," you will definitely enjoy "Shortline Railroading, From the Cab!"

  • What are the inside tapered rails at 4:08? I've always wondered what they are. They're made up of normal rails, but they show up on bridges and other areas where the main tracks are above ground. Any idea what they do?

  • @BeeRich33 In case of a derailment, they help keep the wheels from going off the bridge.

  • Do you happen to know who owned the old GP-30 prior to the branch line? I am always interested in finding out where these engines haven been throughout the years. Excellent video!

  • @vinylvend thats what I like to do too I usually go on Google & type in rr archives & go to ther site & I go to search by locomotive model & pick SD40T-2 for example & see all of the companies that have them.
