http://www.jazzvideoguy.tv, in association with b3monaco.com presents "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve," Don Patterson's Hammond B-3 Version, by organist Tony Monaco.
The band leader and drummer Larry “Wild” Wrice told me one’s when I was digging Jimmy Smith, 15 years ago; If you want to play like Jimmy Smith, Don’t listen to Jimmy Smith but listen to where he listen to. He comes with names like: Oscar Peterson, Thomas “Fats“ Waller and same tenor men, I don’t remember their names. He continued with; But if I want to hear Jimmy Smith on mine bandstand, I ask Jimmy for it and otherwise Tony Monaco will help me out.
I'd LOVE to see organ make a comeback in rock music. I'm a jazz horn player but I love the organ, with all of it's great textures. Great vid and superb playing.
Nice job! Enjoyed your commentary. Nice to see a video of a tasty left-hand bass line too. I'll be checking it out a little closer to try to pick up a few things!
When you hit that last cord I'm surpised the organ didn't catch on fire. I mean literally burst into flames cause this here is HOT. I'm a drummer but I'm so into the organ it hurts me. Maybe one day I can play like if I'm lucky
Excellent my friend. Great work, superb video, and nice narrative to go along with your version. Just very well done. Hey plus you were having lots of fun.
VERY WELL DONE
Great video, and Particularly GREAT final.
I saw you in Casablanca last year, with Pat Martino.
Just brilliant !!
