Tariq Ali's writing and public commentary on global affairs, particularly the international left, over the past four decades make him an influential figure worldwide.

  • Great interview with a man whom I have great respect for. I'm currently reading his book The Idea of Communism and will continue with The Obama Syndrome later.

  • @hellomoto170 - If I saw him in person, I'd call him a liar. He's a punk! No reference to this video. I just watched him on another show talking and was so full of it.

  • What a legend of a man, I'd love to be able to talk to the guy in person.

  • I don't know why Ali still moans about the present political and social order. The New Left constantly complain but they won. Governments own the economy and their 1960's social agenda swept all before it. The attack on marriage and the family because they represent opposition to the state.

  • Just joking; great interview.

  • They got his occupation the wrong way round; useless!

  • He looks like a Pakistani Einstein.

  • @ChillpointNews His Grandfather was the Prime Minister of Punjab (The largest and most powerful State in Pakistan)???

Is it not the main reason of the decline of the Country...when the kids of the Political elite in the poorest of countries live peacefully in Europe/USA....and have NOTHING to do with the problems in their own country.

  • @rencrow "street fighting man"? He comes from a ridiculously rich and well-connected family, if he was threatened to be expelled from school for protesting, he simply could chose to switch school or even the country (U.K.). But I have to hand it to Tariq, once you have the people persuaded that you are one of them, you really some smart guy.

  • He ranks with Robert Fisk, Noam Chomsky and the like.

As an orator, however, he is probably the best.
