Two, of course you don't need magic choking and mind tricks, not when you have bullshit psuedoscience and mind melds.

Now, you forget: Without Star Trek, George Lucas would have never been inspired to make your beloved Star Wars. Without us Trekkies, you wouldn't have your precious Star Wars. PLUS the fact that Trek is OLDER, has more REAL POSSIBILITIES (it don't need any magic choking and mind tricks), and makes more SENSE. W're also A LOT MORE PROLIFIC! (6 TV series and 11 movies versus 1 cartoon and 6 movies, plus more books).
