I'm 16 and my parents got divorced last year after 18 years or marriage. My dad is still here as a person but has never been close to me. I'm happy to see my mom has finally found someone to treat her right and someone that makes an attempt to be in my life even if im weary to let him in. But i know he cares for my mom and im glad he is trying to be there for me too. Paisleys songs have so much meaning behind them.

my real dad left when i was little and since i was 4 years old i've had a step dad he's taken care of me and my mom all these years im now 19 and living on my own because it was him that prepared me for life dad i hope im as great of a father as you were for me you brought me under ur arm and taught me about life you shared your life with me and taught everything i need to know to survive love you dad

When i was young my moms long time friend was a caregiver for me. when my dad was no longer a part of my life he became that. He took me to school every day took me to all my sporting events was always there to help when i needed it. If a dad does that, they're the best dad in the world. but for someone with no obligation to do a thing for you does that, what can you even say? He's battling cancer and I played this for him so he knows how much he means

this song makes me think of my uncle who could have told my aunt they can't take me,but they did now he's gone i'm grown have a son of my own and wish i could hug him and tell'em how much i love him cause i wouldn't be the man i am today if it wasn't for him. i love you uncle smokey hope i'm making you proud and wish you could met your grandson avery he would just love you.
