@jasshole333 bankai is the second stage of a soul reapers zanpakto. It is required to be learned by all the captains of the thirteen court guard squad. The only captain who hasn't reached bankai is kenpachi, who doesn't even no his zanpakto's name. And hollow ichigo is the hollow form he accidentally kept when he was getting his soul reaper abilities back. I just watched most of the bleach series on netflix, so yeah.

Ichigo must have been so weak at this time. Because Renji said in the second battle they had "The last time we fought I was on Limit release and now my power is 5x's stronger, you cant win." So ichigo just about beat him now, he must have been so weak at this time.
