yes,given the variables. interesting that you raised this issue. i was told by my own elders that they have to adapt to their new country as the situation and attitude is different from china.
this is also important as we need to remember the root and not forgetting them along the way. i am personally piecing them together little by little as i travel across asia
@richardhaw one of the biggest adaptions is that the style is instantly in competition with other styles which would not be the case in Yong Chun - so in a new country, the teacher tends to emphasise the students fighting ability as soon as possible - and exercises for that. i agree, but we have the opposite of that in ngocho in many instances. we have to adapt. interesting observations,though. here in japan its kind of like the same too
@richardhaw these are only as you say observations - not an opinion for better or worse - although to some extent of course a defence of some of our stylistic stuff. In fact a style can stagnate like an in bred dog in the same instance - I like the vibrancy and balance of ngocho in these regards.
