Emerson College is located in the heart of Boston, Massachusetts, one of the most historic cities in America—and considered by many to be the best college town in the country. Small in scale yet large in scope, you can walk or take the excellent public transit system to hundreds of cultural sites within minutes of the Emerson campus.

The College overlooks historic Boston Common, faces the state capitol, and is around the corner from major publishing houses, the financial district, movie and sound studios, and hospitals. Emerson's neighborhood—the Theatre District—is home to famed theaters and performance spaces that include the Citi Center, Shubert Theatre, Opera House, Colonial Theatre, Cutler Majestic Theatre, and Paramount Mainstage (the latter three owned by Emerson) to name just a few.

If you crave live music, most national and international touring acts make a stop in Boston. From classical and jazz, to hip hop, blues, country, rock, and alternative, Boston has it all. Major area cultural attractions also include the Museum of Fine Arts, the Institute of Contemporary Art, JFK Library, the Freedom Trail, and the Boston Red Sox, Celtics, and Bruins.

Some of the nation's most respected news organizations are found in Boston, such as the Boston Globe, the Boston Herald, and the Christian Science Monitor; CBS, NBC, ABC, and Fox affiliates; WGBH public television; and numerous radio stations.

What does it mean for you? Boston is your laboratory.

As an artist, experience the professional shows and explore the museums. As a journalist, cover local and state politics, professional sports, theater, music, or the entertainment scene.

And as someone looking for pre-professional experience, being in a thriving metropolis such as Boston presents many opportunities for you to pursue.
