Drifting Away Reached #10 in the official underground Urban chart in June 2011 ahead of artists such as Tinie Tempah (proving the power and influence of Kwamz's fast growing fan base) after just being broadcasted on Channel AKA on SKY TV for 2 weeks. The song remained on the channel for a following 2 months getting consistent air play due to public requests. It has now been added to the Channel AKA and STARZ compilation album amongst some big names which will be for sale in HMV, ASDA, PLAY.COM & ITUNES from the 30th October 2011.
This Video and song also led Kwamz to be spotted by the Likes of Tinchy Stryder, who had some of his 'star in the hood' clothing sent to Kwamz's home and other stars such as Aggro Santos etc.
"Kwamz' is a 17 year old rapper from York / Leeds of Ghanaian and Danish origin. The Name 'Kwamz' is a derivative of a Ghanaian nickname.
He spends a lot of his time between Leeds when he studies in the College of Music and London where he records and performs regularly.
He has built a real nationwide fan base.He has made many friends in the urban / pop music scene as a result of all this. He recently performed as one of the headline acts in the O2 indigo to over 2,000 people
Kwmaz is set to explode nationally in 2012.
Kwamz started his journey in Music in earnest when he released a number of self songs onto Youtube that ultimately gained a positive reaction accumulating thousands of hits. He met his now manger Robert Stephenson in Mach 2011 through the Blastbeat programme, in which he become engaged. He became CEO of his own events company Traffik Jam at age 16. He ran Traffik Jam out of his school 'All Saints' in York, staging his big first event in May 2010.
Kwamz released a You Tube track/ video called "Drifting Away" on May 26th 2011.
Within a month it had exceeded 15,000 plays. It then got play-listed on AKA TV and went top 10 in their charts, which helped drive the track over 75,000 views on You Tube in the first few months. He now has over 5,000 twitter followers and coming up to 7,000 Facebook LIKES, built a genuine fan base around the country with street teams springing up all over the place run by fans in over 30 cities and towns.
Kwamz is versatile and very motivated to explore different fields and fulfill his pottential (as obvious from successfully running his own events company in the past) and is very interested in being involved in presenting and acting in the future.
Blastbeat will support Kwamz for his major School tour which will take place in the first half of 2012 and will be a strong factor in helping Kwamz and Blastbeat international management reach the target of Quadrupling the Kwamz fan base.
