There's a similar problem with counting a movie as profitable or not merely by its box-office. In my opinion, the solution to the problem is to view movies and television shows as long-term investments, not short-term ones.
But what's so stupid about wanting to wait for DVDs of television shows? It strikes me as quite sensible. No commercials, you can watch them at your leisure, and possibly even better picture quality, plus the ability to rewatch, rewind, fastforward, etc.
@16210537 * a lot of us dont have our jobs anymore is what I meant to say at the end of paragraph 1, not after the lawsuits and several facilities being shut down and nearly all of us being out of work
Used to work for the Nielsen Ratings myself - its a very changed system now, a lot of us that worked for the TV diaries and Nieslen, calling people doing the diary studies, doing enumeration studies, checking in on people who have the equipment.
The ratings used to be semidecent as the several different studies all reflected one another's results - which shows they have some signifigant accuracy.
HOWEVER due to lawsuits from advertisers they own NRM now. Younger people are excluded for a reason
