Despite the damage, Katrina was an 'underrated' storm by it's category. The storm surge was well into 'Category 5' range which is 19 feet and higher. Katrina's was 28 feet, surpassing Camile's 24 foot storm surge. When it made landfall, substain winds were 135 mph with 150 mph gusts putting it well into Category 4 status when first making landfall in Parish, LA, then made landfall again with 125-130 mph substain winds with 140 mph gusts, still puts it into Category 4 status with the wind gusts.

I was in Biloxi in 2010, I'm so happy everything is up and running

My dad had to stay at Treasure Bay during the storm, he was head of security at the time, there was no full nights of sleeping, there wasn't anything for 5 days, then we got a hold of him miraculously there was a cell tower that was running, and we heard "I'm fine see you soon" then it cut out again

Thanks for sharing this video......I had lived near the Edgewater Mall on Eisenhower. Biloxi will always home to me.

On this day 5 years out I still cry. We will never forget what happened to us and our coastal lifestyle. I was very lucky being 1/2 block from Front Beach in OS and as the bridge collapsed my house shook and floor beneath my feet moved-three times and I looked to the ceiling and thanked God I was safe. Your video is very touching and so very well done. Remember how hot it was and how quiet.

Thanks. My wife and I snuck past the guards set up at the RR crossings between HWY 90 and Pass Road by taking a back road by the coliseum. We were able to get some great shots. When most of them were taken, we couldn't see another human being in any direction. It was an unusual feeling that you can't describe. I received many compliments from friends and family so decided to post on this site for others to see. I'm glad someone still appreciates it. Thanks...Magus
