With the recommended prop and reduction drive you should get 150 lbs of static thrust. As designed should take about 150' for takeoff.

Looks she needs too much distance to takeoff. As much as a Cessna Grand Caravan does. How many horsepowers used in engine ?

Cool. It seems that all the links on the internet to the ameriplanes website are dead. Are they still in business? Where does one go to get one of these things?

25hp. But the prop is inefficient. (Small diameter, high speed.) So it takes 400' to take off, so what? This video is a taxi test, I wasn't pushing it.
Plane has since been sold.

You're right. The original prop was a bit better (90 lbs. thrust). This one is about 80. Climb rate was a few hundred ft./min., better in the winter. Never had a problem, though.
