  • 25hp. But the prop is inefficient. (Small diameter, high speed.) So it takes 400' to take off, so what? This video is a taxi test, I wasn't pushing it.

    Plane has since been sold.

  • You're right. The original prop was a bit better (90 lbs. thrust). This one is about 80. Climb rate was a few hundred ft./min., better in the winter. Never had a problem, though.

  • With the recommended prop and reduction drive you should get 150 lbs of static thrust. As designed should take about 150' for takeoff.

  • Looks she needs too much distance to takeoff. As much as a Cessna Grand Caravan does. How many horsepowers used in engine ?

  • Cool. It seems that all the links on the internet to the ameriplanes website are dead. Are they still in business? Where does one go to get one of these things?
