The Tuscarora are a reconized people, the ones in up state New York. They state there are no Tuscarora in North Carolina. For you people to get up here with such ignorance is beyond me. The name Lumbee was adopted in the 1950's due to idiots in the state government years ago claiming the Indians of Rob county anything but Tuscarora, the reason behind that is the treaties that are in the state archives. So you people need to get together and be proud of who you are
Doubt you'll be seeing any legitimate papers of momma's, daddies, and grandmommas being fullbloods (having 4 Indian grandparents?...yes........8 Indian great grandparents?.....certainly!........even 16 Indian great-great grandparents in many cases).........but even so......... legitimate papers will show a lot of them (even the 16 g-grandparent ones) as being 1/2's, 3/4ths, etc...(we're talking 300 yrs here) when you get down to it..........but then again?....Lewiston isn't any different is it?
Tuscarora is a recognized nation. There all ready treatys that Tuscarora people follow. If the tuscarora people from North Carolina are real Tuscaroras then they would nt be trying to start another reservation? We have one in Lewistion however if you have legitimate papers that you are like second generation of tuscaroras like your mother is full and her mother was full than thats legit. But not like well my great great great great gramother was a tuscarora princess. just sayin
Lumbee is not a real tribe name. It was a name the English gave to the Various tribes brought to that area...Croatoan, Secrotan, Tuscarora, Cheraw, etc etc. I'm not really sure why the Lumbee still use a name that disrespects their ancestors. It;s a mixed tribal group that never used the Lumbee name historically.
94Lumbee. The Tuscarora don't want Rob. Co. This isn't some territorial war between any people. From my understanding this is an opinion that the the Lumbee act is unfair and unbalanced considering that it states that all Natives, despite them knowing there ancestral origins, in surrounding counties are to be considered Lumbee... If they passed a law that all in Rob Co and surrounding counties are to be considered white, wouldn't you find that offensive?
94lumbee... so no other tribe has the right to claim who they are? Do you understand the lumbee is a generic name of people with mixed heritage? The Tuscarora have been here far before lumbee ever existed, please have respect. We don't even want Robinson county, its just the fact that not every ndn around Robinson county is a lumbee, therefore shouldn't be forced to clai

I bet if the Tuscarora are recognized, alot of the Lumbees will try and convert to the Tuscarora.
