This is Part 2 of how I converted my 97cc Baja Doodle bug Mini Bike over to a 6.5 HP motor mini bike. The bike is much faster and has the power to go up a hill now. I wouldn't recommend this unless you are an experienced rider. I remove the original motor and begin preping the engine mounting plate.

  • Ok thanks! I don't plan to race, I just want to be able to make it have the capabilities to go up hills and offloading and hopefully wheeling! I have a dirt bike with a ton more power than these things but I just rode it yesterday for the first time in a few years!, I realized how light it was and how I could get this thing doing some serious wheelies (hopefully)

Yeah, it will climb hills and do wheelies no problem. You may want to invest in a hydaulic brake system though. I burned out the original brake system on the first day that i had the new motor on it. The hydraulic brake system is about 45 bucks and bolts right on.

  • Hey there, would you message me a response to this question.? I have a baja 97cc it's the green one but I'm sure this is the same. I plan on doing a swap but I'll do some stuff to the motor before I put it in to make it even faster. What motor would you recommend I start off with? Thanks!

  • @cap9709

To be honest with you, unless you plan on racing it, the 6.5 HP motor is plenty powerful & fast enough. But if you really feel the need to upgrade the motor you can put the after market pipe on it in place of the stock muffler or maybe a performance air filter.

  • does the 97cc have the same clutch size as the 6.5?

  • @GavinEdgell

No. The 97cc does not have the same clutch size as the 6.5. They have different shaft sizes.

  • Throw on a Jackshaft from PMR more torque, quicker, and top end

  • @Rkoakalilkaz

The cluch is for 3/4' shaft size and 12 tooth for #35 chain.

  • i want to do the same thing doodle bug but i have a 5 hp what size clutch did u use

  • @KillaWatts10

It would most likely fit your mini bike frame.
