  • hey phil,

i have a digi 003 rack and just got an old presonus digimax(8channel preamps). I connected the presonus to the digidesign via lightpipe. The digidesign shows that there is a connection and the software is set up so that it runs off of the presonus but when I pull up a new track to record off of the presonus it still only shows the 8 inputs of the digidesign and not the presonus. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

    Thanks

  • @Branman1994 Go to the setup menu. Select "I/O". Click on the default button. That should create inputs for the analog AND the lightpipe inputs. If not, you can create them with the "Create new path" button. Double clicking on a path name (right hand column) will allow you to change the label to whatever you want - Presonus 1,2, 3, etc.

Make sure there is a M or L/R selection for every one of the 16 "boxes" on the I/O grid. I'm out of space - stop by my forum if you need more help...

  • Thanks soo much. This is exactly what I was looking for. I am trying to use the A/D converter of the dbx376 tube compressor instead of the mbox A/D converter. Problem is, I only have S/PDIF as an option for the mbox instead of word work connectors. Would S/PDIF work as word clock? Would the dbx work as the external A/D converter and do you think the difference in sound quality would be significant? Thanks for posting. Take care.

  • Yes - in addition to carrying the two channels of digital audio, the S/PDIF interface also carries word clock data. Just connect the S/PDIF out from the dBx 376 to the S/PDIF in on your Mbox, and then set the word clock source (in the Pro Tools software) to external / S/PDIF, as shown in the video.

  • I was wondering could you tell me how to connect my mbox 3 pro, ua la610 mk2 preamp, external master clock and my behringer ada8000 all together so I can use the converters from my behringer when I record. Thank U and God Bless!

  • i have a TC Finalizer express, currently using its analogue IN/OUT only. IF i wanna use its spdif with my 003, is it MUST, to change the clock to "SPDIF(RCA)..???

  • the ad8k, I have to go to internal, set adk8 to read the digi 002 by the ambus 8+ card, then I have to set clock to adat and quickly sync the ad8k to the big ben, I feel like its only a matter of time, before the sync source button blows out. So the question is, Is there a correct way to turn these on. As of now, its big ben, apogee ad8k, digi 002, then masterlink wants I have the previous clocked! Computer? on or off first

  • I'm always willing to learn, Great video, I am running a apogee ad8000se and alesis masterlink with a big ben clock, and a 002 looking to upgrade to a hd system, but They are very pricey, My question is with startup, I run adat in and out to digi 002 apogee ad8000, clock big ben wordclock out to in of ad8k, I run aes out and in to alesis masterlink, My problem is, it is very difficult to get these things to read clock from big ben. I get it working after jogging through sync source on

  • Thanks I exactly that and it works perfect I do hear aBIG difference in quality. I would like to increase my sample rate but the MBOX 2 will only allow 48khz, I also wanted to connect AES3 with word cables to keep signal and digital word clock data separate. Would it be more accurate ?

  • Nice Vid!
