This is not Donson'goni, this is Kamelen'goni. It is not a griot instrument like the Kora. It is not a small Kora. It is a Kamelen'goni.

the kind of ngoni seen most in west is the transverse frettable variety - looks like a little lute held at the chest

I feel that it is a dons o ngoni
usually 8 or 10 or sometimes 12 strings.
now made with guitar machine heads.
notice how full and strong the sound is
sometimes called a 'bass kora' it is related to the 'lute like ngoni' which is also used to accompany songs of tribal history.
sometimes it called he 'hunter's harp'
also a maker will fasten the 'poigne's' or hand rests to the neck. this adds strength so the strings can be thick and very tight
24 but this one turn out to be a small Cora with 10 strings.

it's a ng'oni, not a kora. the two are as similar as they are different. it's like the difference between a violin and a viola ;)
