United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon was unharmed after a rocket landed near Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's office in Baghdad's heavily fortified Green Zone while the two men were speaking to reporters at a news conference.

Ban was talking of the international community's commitment to a peaceful and democratic Iraq when a blast shook the building, jolting the secretary-general, but not Iraq's prime minister.

The rocket landed as one of Ban's questions was being translated.

Ban was to leave Baghdad later today after the first visit by the top UN official in nearly a year and a half.
