I wish this slideshow was accompanied by "St. Francis Dam Disaster" performed by Frank and the Catholics. The song that's being played is "When the Levee Breaks" performed by Memphis Minnie and Kansas Joe (circa 1929), which still a good song. "When the Levee Breaks" was covered by Led Zeppelin in 1971. The idea that "thousands" of migrant farm workers died when the dam failed is a myth. Of the approximately 450 victims recovered, about 100 could not be identified. So where are the bodies of the "thousands" of migrant farm workers. After a month in the silt, no one could tell who was a rich or poor person, let alone "resident" from "migrant farm worker."
