Former world cup freestyle skier Bryan Spiegel climbS the highline ridge in taos from 11,800 feet to 13,000 lung breaking feet. Than skis top to bottom on this thigh burning 45-55 degree gully. Named after one of the SS general that tried to assassinate Hitler! Stauffenberg is one of the steepest off piste runs at Taos.

Cruising Lower Inferno. Pay attention to the last Millisecond, spot the 540 off the drop, then back up to the Highline Ridge at 12,800 feet of leg burning fun.Taos rocks! 5000 feet higher than the top of Whistler Mountain Shopping Ski Centre. Whistler sucks! Its is privately owed and all about skiing, enough said.

  • thanks so much. Yes I have skied out of an avalanche just by guts luck and stupidity. It was small but still tree dragging rock slinging. Thats a scary tattoo you have...if thats you..getting inked...looks more dangerous than my advanced snow plow.

  • Sorry to hear about that, Well one things certain...theres wasa ton of snow when I skied on it. Thanks for watching. Take care ski safe.

  • i saw a little kid fall on the hike and lose both of his skis, they went down just short of this run through the trees. i felt bad for his dad who had to go get them, the run was 33% dirt, 33% rock and 32 percent trees. oh, and 1 percent snow.

  • climbed it 7 times that day...hence the skiing looks tired to me..compared to the first 3-5 runs. Been skiing there since 1980 when I was a guest of Mr. Blakes..so I know hiking is what you do...it gets a little harder when your half a century but you probably didnt realize that. :0)

  • How many times again? lol Hiking's kind of a normal thing at Taos, it's just what you do there man.

  • I was a pass holder at taos in the early 2000's and used to ski the uper t on a daily basis. Loved stauffenberg, brings back great memories. The sick thing is, that is one of the easier lines in that zone. You made look easy though bro!!

  • Great run but one of the shortest hikes on the mtn
