DEVIL GIRL FROM MARS (a film edit)

Basic Plot: With the male population of Mars on the decline, the future of the red planet rests squarely in the hands of a long-legged and cold hearted alien, who's come to Earth -- specifically, the Scottish moors -- in search of virile, able-bodied men. The Earthmen's mission -- should they choose to accept it -- is to travel to Mars to help propagate the species.

This has got to be one of the worst movies ever made (apologies to Ed Wood). Beware any movie based on a play as all they seem to do is talk their way through scenes as if they were still on the stage. The plot involves the characters constantly drinking, talking and drinking some more (well, it does take place in a Scottish pub) and then occasionally stepping outside to gawk at the spaceship. The female Martian is dressed like a cross between Darth Vader and a dominatrix and is always taunting the inferior Earthlings. The robot ("Watch the power of another world") looks like it was made from a large refrigerator cardboard box but I do like the way it shoots a death ray out of its head!

Rent this one to see a rare 1950s sci-fi flick from the UK. It is just over an hour long and has some watchable bits; just fastforward when they keep talking!

Thanks for the positive comment! I got the giggles the first time I watched this and saw the story taking place in a pub, especially with the one fellow just sitting there in a comfy chair with his drink while another shoots the gun at the scary Martian female.

Any movie directed by Edward D. Wood Jr. is bound to be really bad... but that is what makes his flicks so good!

I like those old steam powered saucers. Yes, they were slow to accelerate but once you got to warp factor 2 the ride was smooth.
