Gears of War Lessons - Episode #6 - GoW3 Beta PAX Vids Analysis

A bit of a change of pace this week due to some computer issues combined with a bunch of great vids coming out of PAX this weekend. I talk a bit about the maps Thrashball and Mercy then cover some of the finer details in the weapons. Will go back to doing lessons next week, consider this Recess :)

Game looks great except for shotty range, I think they need to tone it down a bit.

@InfuZedShaDoWz yeah I wasn't too happy to see the tu6 shotty range, it's interesting that epic hasn't found a solid damage output/range after this long

You are officially the first person I've heard make an accurate prediction about the Sawed-Off shotgun. It really does require 0 skill at all to use, and is the source of the majority of all raging by skilled to advanced players during the beta.

@peteyying OMG I know right, it's the fucking gayest thing ever! They just rush you and team shot you with shotguns. I hate GoW but it can be really fun if people play with actual skill.

@peteyying Yeah, but people are still Gnasher whores. Everyone on the opposing team always fucking uses it! It just really should even be in the game, or it should be degraded a bit.

@imAkEjoKeZ5297 I agree that 2-piecing isn't a great game mechanic for this type of shooter (plus the fact that I never truly utilized it myself), but there will still be ways for players to stun and shoot, such as the stun from the smokes that is minor, but present, in Gears 3

I bet this will go in between GoW2 and GoW1 in terms of reception from the community, GoW1 being the better reception ofc.

I wouldn't say the Double barrel take "no skill" yes you can one shot people but you need great timing and great manuvers to get close enough to use it, ill trade it off depending on the map

@arCtiCvBi Its not going to be in the beta, it will eventually be in the final game, i guess theyre just tweeking it

I believe I heard from a friend that the community on the forums discussed about the gnasher range so that epic games could tone it down.
