Occupy Vancouver: Protester Arrested, Volatile Situation Police and Protesters

A man was arrested today at the Occupy Vancouver cleanup and relocation to BC provincial law court property.
The video begins with a fireman leaving the site with a police escort after protesters became angry about his alleged insensitive remarks regarding a sacred fire that was doused by the fire department early last week.
Three angry protesters follow the retreating group, demanding accountability for the fireman's allegedly offensive comments. One man fights with an Occupy Vancouver peace keeper (wearing a high-visibility vest) who was trying to hold him back. Police intervene and arrest him.
A tense situation develops between some of the protesters and VPD officers while they wait for a police van. Re-enforcements arrive from the motorcycle squad and the man is taken into custody.

FILMMAKER'S NOTES
It was a pretty wild experience being in middle of all this, trying to film and document clearly while being jam-packed in a crowd of other bodies. I was impressed at how calm the police remained throughout. No riot gear, no pepper spray, no batons, not even any harsh language!

We all know who the kid in vest is. Parents always gave him what he wanted, grew up in a good neighborhood, he had a kid with some who loved him. Went to school to further his education, got a good job as a chef. Then what he relapsed on his cocaine addition again lost everything and ended up occupying Vancouver? Pathetic is all I can say. What a loser. What a waste. Grow up Ben, Get the help you need and sort your life out

@Manleell Um, police were arresting the wrong guy. He was released later. The white hat/ bright vest guy appears to be the one doing punching. He got arrested later by police on an old warrant. There's karma for you. Peace, keep watching these excellent films. I'm learning a lot from them, hope you are, too.

@SpankMeNasty Funny thing is, when the police whack you with baton, who is gonna come to your defense? Exactly these same "hippie scum!" Is that what you called Vietnam war protestors, too? Luckily they stopped the USA from CONSCRIPTING young people as soldiers to fight overseas. Many of them were passive resistors. Economic collapse, Europe & here, passive resistance will evoke - violence by police, defending corruption. Watch this film "Collapse" Michael Ruppert. It really scared me ;-(

@axlandtux Hahaha that shows you have no idea of the extremely smart people behind the whole Occupy Movement. Due to the kind of films being posted here, many people are waking up, now that we are getting to see the whole uncut films. Time for us all to educated ourselves. Actually the Bright Vest / white baseball cap guy started throwing punches. Alejandro who is arrested in this film was released without charges. The white hatted guy with the Bright Vest was arrested later in the day, once police realized they had an outstanding warrant on him.
