Graphic/ Iranian asylum seeker dies after setting himself on fire in Amsterdam

The man who put himself on fire on Wednesday afternoon 6 April 2011 at the Dam Sq. in Amsterdam, has passed away from his injuries on Thursday morning. This was announced by the police.

He was a 36 years old man from Iran. He was an asylum seeker which every legal avenue open to him was exhausted.

The incident happened around 12:30 on Wednesday afternoon beside the National Monument at the Dam Sq. in Amsterdam. The man put his clothes on fire after he was doused with a flammable liquid. Bystanders and police officers were able to extinguish the fire. The victim was then brought to a burn centre. His condition was already critical.

@keep2yourself i refer you to the very fact that this has happend in Amesterdam, you can't deny that.the soul responsibility of this tragic event rests with Netherland government.thousands of people leave their country of origin and seek refuge each year for a better life and most of them aren't political refgugees,they claim so just because this is the only possible way to get residance permit.Iran has allowed by far more refuges to live in its territory than any western country,3 milion afghan

@NobelMan1000 yes, but he wouldn't have left his country if the gov't weren't so inhuman and vile, therefore, he seeked refuge in Holland.. So the base reason for this happening is still on the bloody hands of the iranian regime!

@keep2yourself is the dutch government who is responsible for this. because they didnt give him permission to live in holland after 10 years of keeping him in refugee camp thats why he set him self on fire to protest this grave injust that had beed done to him
