Una de las mejores Marias Stuardas.....

I love Caballe but I've always felt that her Stuarda is much too grand. It's beautifully sung and great, but it doesn't appeal to me because she's singing it the same way she would Lucrezia Borgia. Stuarda is a queen but she's mainly a victim and she has to sound more emotional and melancholy. I like the tearful and subdued styles of Beverly Sills and Joan Sutherland - they know how to sing Stuarda really well with character.
