Dreamy amazing trip :)

Pole blew my mind when I received this as an advanced promotional copy at the radio station I djed/music directed at. Instant favorite, and still one of my favorite electronic works.
-
I was going to say thankyou for the information, FlorrieDugger, but since you are vicious, I say FUCK YOU instead.

@radweed2009 Betke was seemingly the quintessential embodiment of the term sui generis literally meaning of its own kind/genus or unique in its characteristics, So incredible was the Pole 1 release that cognoscenti awaited its successor with breathless anticipation of his next release. hissing terrain and a drifting dubbiness unlike anything heard before. This was his sound. Music need to keep moving forward and not trying to copy and be derivitive anymore, it is happening on so many levels now.

His unique sound is a result of his damaged analogue Waldorf 4 Pole-Filter. Given to him by friends as a gift, it fell onto the floor and, when Betke then switched it on, its defective frequencies generated the sounds of interference reminiscent of the surface noises of decaying vinyl. His accidental discovery catalyzed his approach by introducing crackling, ghostly qualities to his music. His debut Pole 1 released in September, 1998! had a detonating impact within the electronic community.

@radweed2009 Yeah you really don't get it. He never used any canned programmes into any synthesizers or ripped off anyone. He was the cutting engineer at Mauritz Van Oswald's Dub Plate and Mastering Studio in Berlin, one of the highest orders in the leagues of all the Hard Wax Pioneers, trained by Monolake, and his name is a reference to the damaged 4 pole filter his used to obtain his sound. You know who Maurizio is right?
-
@fcuevasz Yes your right! He wasn't ripping anyone off ever! let alone Burial. I seen him live with Scion, Monolake, Vainqueur and other Chain Reaction artists in the late 90's and he was in a league of his own and his stature was very high and most people know this. He was a cutting engineer at Maurizio's Dub Plate and Mastering studio just to give you an idea of how high he ranked. Working with Moritz back then and and engineer in his studio and trained by Robert Henke of Monolake.

The idea you would even suggest this is ludicrous

For those talking about Burial similarities this song is from 2000. Pole is doing his stuff since 1998.

I don't get it. Either this is a rip off from Burial, or Burial ripped this off from Pole, or both guys are using some canned music programmed into a synthesizer?
This was the first tune I heard by Pole. Got really into it from there. The Staedetzism comps are amazing too.
Always liked Brian Eno, Harold Budd, Fennesz, Biosphere, etc, so this sound really appeals!
