What everyone seems to be missing is that he says "I don't know." He admits that he doesn't have much knowledge on the topic, and proceeds to tell you about how it shouldn't matter. Thats how it should be. His personal opinions on evolution and other social issues should not be a matter for the government. It should have no bearing on the election process or who you vote for. Vote for the person that will defend your rights!

Oh god, just give it up with the evolution questions. Its really annoying to read the comments when over half of them are about evolution. Ron Paul has clearly stated twice that his belief in god and evolution are personal. It shouldn't be a really big deal as many of you have made it to be.

In the end it really doesnt matter as long as you have your life and liberty to discuss such things.

Yeah, these things matter. I don't want my tax dollars to go towards teaching fairy tales anywhere but in a mythology class.

The first disbeliever in Evolution who's opinion on the topic I can actually respect. I mean "I don't agree but with the premise but I think you're right to discuss it is a liberty I believe in" (paraphrasing, of course) is a pretty good way to go about it.

It matters when schools are teaching things contrary to scientific proof, like young Earth hypothesis.

He's so obsessed w/ libertarian values (which is fine to align with that school of philosophy) that he denies that things like NASA and scientific research produce benefit, bc he has a superficial understanding of them being big government. 1st, you cannot say that NASA is not effeceint on a budget; 2nd there is much evidence that this works.

Also, if u want a real-time example of evolution, just look at microbial resistance. There's no reason to say there just not enough evidence. Bad MD! No!

Actually it's incredibly important that he ignores facts and logic, then goes "I don't know because it doesn't matter."

    That's a terrible leader

He's also saying that it's becoming a real issue that people are bringing government into the evolution debate, because if the government makes a decision, people who think the government is always right or always wrong because it agrees with them on one issue. The government should worry more about your civil liberties, rights, medical care and the economy more than what to teach in school. If the people want to change what is taught, vote for different school board members.

An intelligent population doesn't have to know about evolution or global warming, there have been very intelligent societies in the past who were also very religious, infact the reason they strived to be educated and work in science was to better understand their god. Even if you got every christian to believe evolution, they would just say there was intervention from god. Evolution is important to the medical community, but not society as a whole, nor should it be.

Dr. Paul, I greatly appreciate your willingness to sit down and answer these questions, and though I don't agree with you on everything, I respect you for your willingness to participate in discussion with the people. More than can be said for most politicians.

I would prefer to live in a scientifically literate society. Ron Paul saying that he doesn't know and that the topic should be open for debate proves that he doesn't believe an intelligent population is important Also the fact that he doesn't believe in evolution or global warming shows me that he himself is scientifically illiterate, and that is scary, in a leader.
