Siskel and Ebert: The Godfather part 3

This is a 1990 tv broadcast but the video and audio looks and sounds crisp and sharp,was this recorded on s-vhs and then did you put the tape in an airtight vault to preserve it?

I like Godfather III a lot. Pacino is brilliant in it. And Andy Garcia gives a great supporting performance

I can't believe that Siskel gave this thumbs up,but he gave Scorsese's 'Casino' a thumbs down!!

I think Godfather 3 pales in comparision to most of the more memorable gangster movies of the 90's

Sofia Coppola was truly horrendous, but she wasn't this film's only flaw.  It wasn't written that well.

Ryder would have done a terrific job and improved the film greatly

Yup - Sofia Coppola is a steaming pile in the middle of this otherwise great film. Pacino's weeping over her murder is still one of the most gripping and painful scenes I've ever seen.

What a lost opportunity.  One never knows how changing one key ingredient can change all the parts. With Ryder you've got someone who actually is believable as an object of so much passion and importance. And who knows if the rest of the script would not have taken shape better. Really sad that the final chapter went out with a squib instead of fireworks.
