  • We are beginning this project at our church and we learned from a different video. They suggest folding the bags handles together then one more time in half before cutting. Also they suggest cutting at 2 1/2 inches. if you do this you will get 5 pcs.

  • we started doing it by the folding method and getting 5 pieces per bag , but the pieces were so thin that it took forever to get a 6 ft mat done, and wasn't near as cuchy as it is if the pieces are wider

  • Very interesting idea, but what if the bags are bio-degradable? Wouldn the Sleeping Mats disintegrate after a while?

  • that is a possibility, but by the time that would happen, they would probably need a new mat anyway

  • ever here of sleeping bags??? much easier!

  • I am making a few of these for my kids that are cub scouts to use under their sleeping bags. Awesome idea!

  • I do this. I can't afford to buy a bunch of sleeping bags or anything, but I do have plastic bags, and it's a small way to help! I actually make sleeping bags from them though, not mats. I try to put a couple of fleece blankets inside if I can, to make it more comfortable and warmer. Not a perfect solution, but it's what I can do! I tried sleeping in one outside to see if they worked. They are pretty warm with a blanket, and better than sleeping on the ground.

  • BEING HOMELEES IS NOT A STYLE; IT IS A GOberment issue!!, WTF People, stop geting use to that: HOMELESS SHOULD NOT EAVEN EXIST. They should have places to stay and some economic Help.

  • wonderful idea

  • Our church and local Rotary are just beginning this project. What a wonderful way to increase the usable life of the cloth blankets we provide. The mats we create actually go on the ground and the cloth blanket goes on top so that it is protected from excess moisture, dirt, etc, which allows it to be serviceable for a longer period of time. Thanks for the idea! Rev. Gregg Alan Smith - Dallas, Texas

  • whoa.. forget this... Ill just buy the poor people sleeping bags :)

  • nice because they're recycling / stupid because even the homeless don't want to sleep on the ground on a mat! They want to sleep under a roof on a bed!!!

  • okay so is that mat comfortable at all? ie for camping

  • Lol i kinda wanna make 1 for me
