@theduke502 and the 12th one was a japanese kamakazie

@daletheguvnor Good point. I read a very convincing post about it being the air intake, but after more digging I read where a P-51 owner taped over the gunports and it ceased to howl. Learn something everyday.
-
@NorthShoreFire3 not correct. why do the racing mustangs at reno air races not howl like that then? because they don't have gunports!
-
Those saying the howl is the intake underneath are wrong. speak to any mustang pilot at an airshow and they will tell you it is the gun ports. At shorham airshow i had the pleasue to talk to one. he put it like this. "Imagine blowing across the top of a milk bottle, then doing it at 400mph. that is what makes the sound"

For those of you who don't know, the Big Beautiful Doll that crashed at Duxford this past year WAS NOT the original Big Beautiful Doll, it was another Mustang painted up like it. The original is till flying at airshows here in the US and is in good hands. Though it is still sad that another piece of history is now nothing but scrap. At least we have videos and photos to remember it by. Thanks for posting.

THE BEST PROPELLER DRIVEN AIRCRAFT
-
@Robkat3751 These aircraft are flown quite light compared to wartime weights. Big prop and bags of power are always a good mix.
-
@brettt777 It's the radiator intake on the bottom, not the gunports.

Lol @ the kid's comment at the end:
"Papa, dit zie je niet elke dag!" ("Daddy, this isn't something you see everyday!")
-
Damn I wet my pants
@madixfilms Looks like the 11 people that disliked this video were Luftwaffe pilots :D
