@frankip6 The old Völkl Explosive did as good if not better. The Explosive had a tad less sidecut, a stiffer tail and slightly softer tip. Völkl launched the Mantra after their first season without the Explosive in their lineup. They could have sold the Explosive with the wizard graphics forever. It's the coolest ski of all time.

... and - if you have to walk for a little while to get to the best spots: The Mantra and especially my Marker Duke bindings ( which are as georgous as the skis) are really overweight and tough to carry for a longer time...

`only can agree. it´s perfect for all kinds of off piste conditions - but don´t try this at icy or hard slopes - grip of it´s edges is pretty poor - even with 88° cut instead of 89°...
see my channel for some rides with MY 2009 Mantra (184cm) in some coloirs such as Canale Joel ( 45-55° steep) or Canale delle Torrette ( 45-50° steep) in the Dolomiti or some off piste runs at Krippenstein, Mittenwald or Kitzbühel to get a impression how the ski twists and rocks...
