The Ratel is the basic Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) of the South African National Defence Force's mechanized infantry battalions, and is named after an African animal known in English as the Honey Badger, which has a reputation as a ferocious fighter.

  • Man O Man i use to be a RATEL driver back in the days. Awesome memories and they get freshened everytime i hear some of the rear engined busses pull off as the sound of the gearbox sounds very much like a RATEL pulling off. Goose bumps.

  • I remember when I was in pre-school we went on a field trip to our towns commando base and we got to ride in a Casspir and a Ratel after that day I just wanted to be a soldier
