I say if Lana had not been killed, and if she had never met Phil in the first place, she could try to make it as a musician.
However, that dream may get sidetracked by something like the horrid interviews that Joaquin Phoenix and Billy Bob Thornton did, because those two did not want to be known as actors when they had clearly wanted the interview to be about their music careers.
